G'day guys.
I'm looking for good people to go to, to get work done on my car I've got my exhaust down, I got my catback exhaust (2.5" Lukey, 1 muffler) done at Perth Exhaust world on Newcastle St, cost me $280 fitted, and he's quoted me a bit over $600 for the pacemaker 4480's fitted. Where can I go for Cams? I don't really know anything about this sort of stuff. All I know is a SOHC and DOHC, so if someone could tell me what I want for a decent power boost for an alright price, please do. I don't want forced induction as of yet. Quite frankly, the thought of such a large boost in power scares me. Besides which, I've always felt that a turbo or supercharger is cheating. For everyone with a turbo or super, don't hold it against me What else can be done to boost power a little? I've read through the 3.9L/4.0L Inline 6 Modification Guide, but if there is anyone in the perth area out there who has got some of these things done, can they tell me how well it works, for how much, and where did you get it done? Also, can you tell me any places that I should avoid? Thanks |

Hey mate, good to see your getting some extracotrs too, but $600 sounds a bit much. Don't be afraid to ring around, you should be able to get it down to about $500. No point having all that exhaust with out upgrading your intake! Try a K&N Panel filter with an SS induction. As for cam work, there are plenty of stage 2 kits around, most performance shops can fit em up.
Give Metthams Mufflers a call for the extractors. At least that way can get a refference to pricing. |

i got my exhaust done at perth exhaust centre, i only got the ph 4999's tho. i think that was the number, non comps.
i got the exhaust (lukey with rear muffler) and non comps for 800 installed. however, he did thread my o2 sensor, noticed 2 weeks later when i went to change it, couldnt get the bastard out, when i did it was f**k but yeh, took it back and he re-tapped it for free that day. even told me how long to make my home made exhaust tip so he could weld it up at no cost

I'll fit parts myself, depending on what it is, really

What's the difference between my stock one and the EF XR6 one? |

I just rang Australian Performance Centre on Newcastle Street. The bloke there reckons he doesn't know what he could do with the cams unless he has a look at my car, but he reckons it's usually about $700 plus labour, and sometimes you have to do the springs as well, which is another $700 on top..
Does that sound right? |

I have no idea, but that seems expensive to me.
RPD's cam's are $530 with new valve springs. So $1400 plus labour is outrageous. Check it out: http://fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34374 |

Does that sound right? ripoff! if you're mechanically minded, it can be had for a LOT less - have a look at Jays RPD forum - site sponsors - i've got an Rspec4 which is about to go into my new engine - have heard nothing but good things! also look at places such as Wade (another sponsor) Surecams, Crow etc - you can get a hold of the cams & springs for a lot less than what that bloke quoted you! then - i'm sure we can organise a day again over here to install a few cams and such!

I think the best thing to do for cams is mail them interstate to get a grind by professionals
Not sure that there is anyone in Perth who wouldn't just be doing the same and charging you comission |
