Just wondering how hard it is to install extrators all by yourself? Because looking under the bonnet, it looks like a simple bolt on procedure. Is it as simple as bolting it onto the side of the motor and the the top of the cat, or is it more involved?
Would it be worth the effort, when you take labour costs into account? Cheers.

Just one person would be pretty difficult i'd imagine, you need to lift the extractors upwards when bolting them onto the head to try and keep it all nice and even (they're quite heavy to lift yourself with one arm )
Yes it is as simple as unbolting then old and then bolting on the new. Make sure you get new gaskets for between extractors & head, and then extractors & cat. Also remember to plug in the oxy sensor when you fire it up (made that mistake myself - wondered what the hell i'd done wrong) to check for air leaks. With a mate, i'd say you will want an entire afternoon so you have enough time to pull it back off if you need to seal it better. you may need some grease, and possibly new bolts too. I can't remember how big they were but some of mine were screwed and wouldn't go back in. BTW you should start it up without the extractors on at all Don't tell your mate to expect a loud noise and i guaruntee it'll scare em

u might want to get sum maniseal from repco too it is much cheaper at repco than SCA

Stock cat position doesn't work with most aftermarket extractors (some do, a Genie design iirc), factory cat doesnt have the same flange. Requires welding and cutting. Easier to just pay the labour, usually not that much if you buy the extractors from them.

if you can weld or cut then no worries (need the equipment and skills), if you can't then take it somewhere...

hiya mate
i just had a set of pacemaker extractors fitted and the exhaust shop only charged me 1 and a half hours labour for fitting the extractors but knocked $100 off the whole exhaust system because i did it all at once $872.00 all up hope this helps Craig |

hi mate ,
i just today fitted pacemaker 4499 to my ef .. was pi$$ easy ..but it was a swap over .so all fitted well. if you get the cat with the flange in the right place(not standard cat) its a easy DIY ..just a few tools & some mufler goo. now just need to put my old setup in the other car .. dave .
