Hi all, since this is my first post i would like to say what an awesome community fordmods.com is. ive lurked here for 6 months and so far found all the information i need to tinker/fix my car.
I just have one quick question i have an AUII XR6 sedan and its developed a ticking/knocking noise from the transmission area and i suspect it may be a loose flex plate. I want to open the transmission inspection plate to check if this is the problem but i'm concerned that if i do i will lose the fluid out of it. So if i open it will the fluid come out? or is it separated from the fluid? Thanks! |

Welcome!
If you are talking about the sandwich plate, no there is no danger of transmission fluid coming out. If you were to drop the trans pan, fluid would come out. Cheers, Evan.

inspection plate will be fine to open and have a looksie.
the fluid will stay housed in the torque convertor + gearbox.
