Hey..... Newb Question Here!

I want to improve the fuel economy on my EF(cheaply), and keep it fairly quiet so i went into custom exhausts and they tell me to put a 2 1/4 system on it.... can anyone tell me if this is a wise decision?

Before I took the resonator off of my redback 2.5" system it was pretty f**k quiet.

2 1/4 is stock size - so doubt it.

2 1/4 would be OK as long as it was mandrel bent, but IMO still better of with a proven off the shelf mandrel bent 2 1/2 like lukey or redback.

my EF got better economy with comp pacies and a 2.5 system.

it's not drony if you use a try flow muffler with 2 resonators

most bolt ons come with one resonator. have them fit a second one where the front muffler is on the stock system

go the 2 1/2" rather. it's not the size of the exhaust that'll make a huge difference to volume, it's more the mufflers set upo

Yep. Get a 2.5, Redback or Lukey, single straight thru front muffler, and a hotdog resonator at the back. Should be sweeeet.
Some exhaust places are deadset pricks, I swear to god. He probably would have sold you a pressbent 2.25, and charged you as much as a mandrel bent 2.5.

May as well just change muffler and fit extractors if your using 2 1/4...Mind you there's still be some gain..Trouble is it would possibly cost as much as 2 1/2 new system..If you are worried about drone I find it helps to have smaller tailpipe than rest of system..Or better still A Y into two 2" tail pipes or rear resonator with two outlets like most Jap performance cars..I/e WRX have rather large single then at rear muffler [in this case] they go 1 3/4 X's two outlets...When these are replaced with 2 1/2 single there's heaps more drone..

If you want more power with the same noise just change extractors and leave the stock exhaust there. But you won't be geting the full benefit.
It doesn't have to be too loud if you get them to fit an extra resonator after the cat. And make sure you get straight through mufflers, otherwise you might of well have stuck with the standard exhust.

not so true.

i changed mine from a try flow muffler to a straight through and there was not difference at the track. so there would hardly be 2kw in it

just save the money to spend on petrol!

minor ex mods will just cost and do very little for power or economy.

hahahahah yeah good one.

but really can they work?? think about them for sec.

you are fitting a metal ring to the injector. whats the difference between the injector sitting in a hot manifold, and having that ring between the injector and the same manifold.??
