alright! engine arrived last night, looks pretty clean, took of most of the water hoses, very little to no corrosion. flywheel is flawless, looks alright. I noticed a bit of gasket glue on the rocker cover in the middle of each end where it curves down, is that normal to have glue in that spot?
Had a bastard time trying to get it off the ute with the hoist, first of all the ram wasnt long enough to lift it up off it, so we shortened the chains, then when we took it off the chains werent long enough to put it on the ground! lol. So had to head down to bunnings and get some wood cut up into blocks to fit underneath, then didnt have enough wood so we found some roof tiles to put under it aswell haha. What a day |

Sounds like fun... I've never done it myself, but often guys will add a bit of glue at the front and rear on the camshaft groove where the gasket sits as this is a common spot for them to leak... So just removes the problem down the road when there is like a 80% chance the damn will leak through there...

ah fair enough, reckon it would be a good idea to get a new rocker cover gasket? there seemed to be some oil through the glue.

hey guys. looking over the engine i noticed one difference, sorry i have no photos as i cant find the camera, but on the XR6 engine there is a small metal box botled ontop of the fuel rail, its about 3x2 inches, with a plug a big black plug hole on the left side, and 2 small pipe ends coming out the rear of it (im assuming 2 hoses connects onto it) if anyone knows what that is for id love to know, as i dont have it on my current engine thats in the car. Cheers

just suddenly occured to me, that the previous owner ran this engine on LPG, so i can only assume that it has something to with that, i unbolted it off the engine. looks normal now haha.
I just hope i can get some cash together quickly, bugger being Xmas time and all, The noise in my current engine got quite loud yesterday, then oil light came on, checked the oil and there was sweet stuff all in there. I cant wait for all this to be done! |

hey guys, so today something has given way in my engine, massive knock (10 times worse than before) can only assume that something internal has snapped.
So i have the new engine waiting to get fit but cant get it done till after christmas I have ordered a J3 Chip with the 6DJC binary. So that sorts my ecu problem for when it gets fit, i have been told i should get a new fuel regulator, pref 300kpa from an XR6, but i havnt come across any yet. Do i need a factory ford fuel regulator or can i buy an aftermarket one. if so can anyone suggest one or link me to some? Cheers. Will keep the updates coming |

Bosch, I believe, are the factory fitted fuel regs. I had to wait a couple of days for mine to come in since the one I went to didn't have it. I do have an old spare one sitting around somewhere, as far as I know, it was working fine before I replaced it with a new one (didn't notice anything different after replacement). I'd suggest you stop driving the car before it dies in the middle of the road and you'll need to fork out more money to get it towed.
