i have a prob with 2 things and they may be related. prob one. even after the car has been running for awhile the needle on the temp gauge only get the the start of the normal range. The radiator also does not seem to build up pressure. i drove the car for a long time and the needle on the temp gauge would read hot then drop fast to cold then take about 30-40 mins to get back to operating temp then drop to cold after 2-3mins by the time i got home i could still squeeze the top radiator hose closed and when opened the radiator reservoir and a little air escaped, other then that no water rushed out. It was as if it was cold (the water was hot). the second prob is that the heater does not blow hot air. More or less on a hot day ya got a better chance of cooling of with the heater on rather then the AC. it does blow hot air but only when the needle on the temp gauge get to the operating temp. Because the heater get its heat from the radiator i am under the impression the 2 probs are related. My first guess if a faulty thermostat, but i have f**k all idea how heater and radiators work.
Any help or info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |

It sound like a new thermostat might be a good starting if not finishing point.
I find your description a tad confusing regarding . . . Quote: even after the car has been running for awhile the needle on the temp gauge only get the the start of the normal range. and Quote: i drove the car for a long time and the needle on the temp gauge would read hot then drop fast to cold then take about 30-40 mins to get back to operating temp then drop to cold after 2-3mins by the time i got home
In the first quote do you mean running the car at idle?
