Hey guys, just got home from work, and about 5 mins later, a huge gush of coolant fell under the car. Opened the bonnet, and I find the bit that the top radiator hose goes on to, broken, with it all in the hose and hose clamp holding it, so yeah, broken clean off!!!!  WTF!

Anyway, can this be repaired, or should I buy a radiator from wreckers (only coz money is tight before xmas :( ).

Can anyone shed some light as to why this would happen? Is it common, or have I just got Lady Luck going against me (b**ch). Or does anyone know where I could get a radiator done cheap in VIC west coz it's my work car, and obviously undrivable.

Cheers,

Mark.

This is very common. The top side of the radiator is the hottest, the plastic gets brittle over time.

It can be repaired. The whole tank needs replacing. In my opinion its generally not worth it. Better to buy a new radiator as your old one is probably clogged up anyway.

Thanks mate, just seen on Ebay radiators going cheap. Done a search in Fordmods (yes it does really work) and read some old posts and guys seem to be happy with the Panther ones from RADMAN.

Thanks for your reply. Buying one today.

if you can be bothered, city ford are selling aftermarket jayrad radiators for $180, prolly knock it down to 160 if your nice.

and as said no point getting this one repaired, as cleaning will cost $100 plus what the new side tank is worth.

Panther radiator from GMAN the RADMAN has done me very, very proud. Was only marginally more expensive that a retank/core.
