the drain bolt in the bottom of my radiator has had the head come of. its sitting flush against the lower tank, discovered this after doing a coolent swap. let me tell you, getting coolent out with out drowning the altenator is fun.
anyway, spoke to a mechanic and we both agreed that a radiator joint would charge an arm and a leg for 10 mins work. we came up with either 1- drilling and then getting a dremal to remove the main material then pushing the rest of the threads in with the new bolt 2- trying to slot the top of the bolt where the head used to be and using a screew driver to wind in out. personally i think its in there good Any ideas? i assume someone has had a few simalar probs?

just pop the bottom hose off? that's how i've done mine

Lefthand drill bits, thats what I use. They were damn expensive, about $140 for 5 of them, with ezi-outs.

couldnt take the bottom hose off at the time. too seazed on. block inlet was the only option,
left hand bits sound interesting. i suppose they bite in and unthread?

Just drill it and slap a flat screwdriver in it.
It's plastic. Unless.. you've encountered a steel one.

have had this happen a few times. what i do is hammer in (lightly) a sharp flat blade screw driver. the radiator bung is only plastic so it doesn't take much to get something in there and then carefully undo it. if that fails yeah ezy-outs are great things. if u get a new radiator bung make sure there is an o'ring. to get it from ford the o'ring is actually seperate from the bung

left hand bits sound interesting. i suppose they bite in and unthread? Yep, got me out trouble several times. The drill bits are a Cobalt/HSS type and don't dull in a hurry, so good for broken exhaust studs and such.

put a plastic bag or two over the alternator and get your skirt off and pull the bottom radiator hose off. If it's 'seized' on it could probably do with replacing anyway.

Yeh I had to punch my lower radiator hose to get it off. Took me ages, not much room to swing a punch lol
