Hi guys.

I am trying to work out once and for all the correct Kpa for the radiator cap for my NL 6cyl Concorde. (XR6 engine)

The Ford shops say 120kpa.

Yet all the auto places have the catalogue saying 135kpa.

I ended up getting a 120kpa , but its a different cap than the 120 that came off.
It fits, but was very tight getting it on.

it looks like this one as opposed to the one above.

Just realised.. the cap i bought is the same brand and part number as the one in the first link.

BUT.. written on my cap is 120kPa.
In the catalogue in the link it states it is a 135kPa
But looks different to the one in the link.

WTF?

anywhere betwen 105 and 120kpa will be fine. wouldnt go over 120kpa if you still have a stock ford radiator.

Just got off the phone with Repco.

They reckon their catalogue states, for the NL 6cyl or EL XR6 between 120 and 150 with the median being 135.

Took it to Repco and they explained to use tghe 120kPa for original Ford radiators and if it has a newer improved aftermarket radiator then 120 - 135 is fine.

He looked at my new cap, and said it doesn't matter what they look like on top as long as the rubber plunger thingy sits tightly covering the reservoir opening.

He said it might have felt like a wrong fit or too tight because my old one was stuffed.

Its all good now.. so far I haven't lost any coolant (touch wood) and i can't smell the coolant in the car any more.
