hi

do you need heavy duty radiators for the au engines in older models like some would use for the older models with the same model engine? or is 32mm as good as a 38mm 3 row

i do tow sometimes,nothing extreme.

the main thing is if its auto and you tow alot? fit it with a huge external trans cooler..
unless the engine is bored and worked to within an inch of its life, a bigger radiator isnt really necessary..
if you want to fit a huge a** radiator it wont hurt, (might hurt the wallet a little) but i think its not necessary..

IMO, I wouldn't recommend buying an aluminium radiator. They start leaking at the joints after a while. One of the guys at NatRad told me they come in regularly for repairs. A lot of overheating problems are due to blocked cores, blocked water galleries in the head, restrictions in airflow through the radiator, and coolant with a low glycol content.

Having thermofans, instead of the the old clutch fan, is a big improvement when it comes to sitting in traffic or climbing steep hills on a 40 deg + day. If you're set on getting a 3 core radiator, go for copper.

Copper is the way to go for a radiator. It's stronger & easy to repair.
Bigger radiators are better (holds more water) but some times not nesassery.
I just got a custom 3 row 13mm each core (copper) thick with natrad tanks. :D
Worth every cent. What a radiator. Aparantly they build these radiators for circuit cars
where there can be no modifications in mounting & fans.

what would this one be like

Mostly likely be the same as all the other responses above it.

Once you've got it in your head you want an alloy one, your going talk your self into it.

BTW: I'm with the others, Copper all the way.

you cant fault it yet! how long has it been in the car???

as in heat dispersion they work fine.. the problem is the cheaper alloy radiators are made from cheaper thin alloy and will corrode much faster than a copper one.
ive had friends who have used the cheap $100 alloy radiators and they are only lasting them from 12 to 18 months before they start leaking from corrosion.. thats using good quality coolant.. and the alloy ones only have 12 month warranty, where a good quallity copper one will have a 2-3 year warrenty (depending on manufacturer).

i use copper radiators and the last one lasted 6 years before it needed to be replaced...
