Ran out on petrol, now it wont run, ideas?

Try smacking the petrol tank from under the car while someone starts it in petrol mode. See if that works.

all this suckin crap from the bottom is a myth as the fuel pump pick up is at the bottom of your tank

couple things on fuel not startin most likly fuel pump

gas not to sure but when was the moisture last drained from the converter ?

Hey, i had a thought for cheaply raising your compression a little bit, put another mm of thread onto your spark plugs, so they go in deeper, taking up more space and raising compression the littlest bit...
This prob wont work cos of the space in the combustion chamber, or it might not fire right, im sure someone will tell me why :)

Oldest trick in the world, some race rivers in the old days use to remove the washers from the spark plugs so it'll take up more space in the combustion chambers. its just a minute gain but better then nothing.

Isn't that what most spark plug makers do & makes you assume theirs is better? lol

What i dont understand, is how i was told the car starts on petrol and then switches across to lpg, how is it starting?

Could it be the fuel filter?

I cant hear what i thought was the fuel pump starting up when i turn the key, might just be my ears!

Timmeh, yeah, i havent bought more than $100 fuel in the last twelve months :P
But ive done over 30thousand km's!!!

I might cut off the washers on the spark plugs, but will this cause any other problems?

there should be a filter bag attached to the fuel pump but I'm not sure with the falcon cause I never had a prob with it.
that filter bag will clog up with s**t as it sucks up whats left in the tank.
since its on empty, remove the pump & inspect it. the filter bag is probably covered in jelly like substance & rust{blocked}.


as for the spark plug washer, I'll leave it. it protects the alloy face from uneven wear or cutting in every time the spark plug is removed & installed.

Since it starts and runs on gas without a problem, despite the gas installer telling me it actually starts on petrol and flicks over to lpg, can i remove the petrol side of things all together, or will that cause problems, cant be done easily?

Apart from the weight saved, i also dont have to fix the problem (unless its just that filter your talking about).. install a valve saver that will drip very, very slowly.. maybe get a manual ecu, get a dyno and get them to advance the timings to suit..

Better economy :)
