Hey everyone, the other day i ran out on petrol (took me two years), it spluttered once or twice before i flicked it onto gas.
Now i have stuck $10 of premo fuel in, it wont even run on petrol, if i try and start it on petrol, it wont, if i switch it accross from lpg to petrol, it dies.. I tried a few times now.. Plugs are fine, air intake is fine too. Maybe something bad in the tank is blocking the inlet somehow, or are my injectors f**k? Cheers Matt

If this means the last time you filled up with petrol, almost certainly your injectors will be clogged, fuel filter needs replacing, fuel pump may be cactus.
Petrol goes stale over a short time, and can do damage to EFI systems - biggest killer to the petrol system in a dual fuel car is petrol underuse.

its also possible that $10 worth of premium unleaded (approx) 6.3L of fuel, isnt enough to prime the fuel lines etc and pump after running out of fuel.

Matt!!!!
whats goin on mate?? flick your car onto petrol and turn the key to the on position. when you do this you should hear the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds(a buzz type noise coming from the boot). If this don't happen then check the power supply to the fuel pump by removing the cover from inside the boot to gain access to the wiring. get the mrs (or Miss) to turn the key on while you check the power supply with a test light. if you have power back there then you have crapped a fuel pump. no power down there and you need to start looking at fuel pump relay, fuses etc.... the fuel in the tank also keeps the fuel pump cool, they don't like getting hot.. if you need further help, you should know my number!!! see ya Pete |

your fuel pump could be f**k, starving an internal one is bad. As others have said could also be the really s**t last bit of fuel that was in the tank clogging it.
My money would be on the fuel pump though, the one in my car died after being driven around on barely anything

The fuel pump uses the fuel to lubricate the system, if you run outta it, you'l screw the pump! Done it myself, and my mechanic brother wasn't too happy.
Fuel pump... GOOOONE! might still make the noises, but its shot! remember, when you run the tank low, all the shhit on the bottom of the tank goes thru the lines... solution, don't be tight, fill up, cos buying a new pipe hurts the back pocket more than an extra 10c p/litre on fuel

yep, doin well thanks matt.
the ute is registered now with the 351 cleveland and in this state should be good for a mid to high 12.(keeping in mind its a daily driver and my work ute as well!!!!) hope all goes well with your car. a little 'system' that i use with a gas car is to put five or ten bucks worth of petrol in every time you fill up with lpg. when your tank is full or nearly full, run it on petrol until you have about 1/4 tank left then start again. might be just me but it seems to keep things alive a bit longer. hooroo pete |

If you hear the pump priming then its working. if car won't start, either not enough petrol or its blocked from all the crap you've accumulated at the bottom of the tank.
One thing you should never to do is run it empty, its a no no!

cool, yeah i know running low is bad.
Hey, i had a thought for cheaply raising your compression a little bit, put another mm of thread onto your spark plugs, so they go in deeper, taking up more space and raising compression the littlest bit... This prob wont work cos of the space in the combustion chamber, or it might not fire right, im sure someone will tell me why Cheers Matt
