just one of my thourghts late at night that randomley jump into my head

what if you say rigged up an airbox along the intake with the ac's condenser to cool the intake temp

im guessing its going to require the compressor to be on all the time and rob power so whats the point

fire your reponses away im curiose to see what people say

there is a set up that uses something similar to cool water in a water to air intercooler set up..
i think its a waste of time but someone has has put the concept to use...

i have actually thought about this but then i experience the massive power loss when i have my A/C on. but what if you had a electric motor running a seperate A/C pump in the boot or something. but then there would have to be mass amounts of pipework and it'd probably put the same amound of load on the alternator

You could put freezer blocks in your airbox.

Do what some people do at the drag strip with turbo set ups. They put dry ice into the air box.

If not, start working on Piezoelectric transducers/transistors that can produce a cold/hot plate on a ceramic plate...but I think that might be out of your price range.

Try methanol injection. From what I read years ago you set up an extra injector into the plenum and pump it in. Drops the air temp a few degrees and burns also so 2 wins cancel out any bad things, shirley?
Also, with the AC cooled inlet charge, you have to work out what sort of air volume you need to cool. Seeing as the motor is gobbling up 4 litres of air (Based on Fords claim in 1993 of 100% volumetric efficiency of the 4.0L engine) every cycle (2 revolutions) and it spins around say 84 times a second at 5000 rpm, thats 166.5 litres of air going down the spout every minute. Takes a bit of cooling to achieve any meaningful results and Im not sure if an automotive AC system will keep up with that level of demand. Id stick with the dry ice in the air box, its an old trick but a good 1.
