I have a 3.45 diff ratio in my EL Fairmont Ghia. It gives a nice little advantage over the 3.23.
If I was to fit a set of 17inch wheels with 235/45/17 rubber would this offset the advantage of the diff?? The car currently has standard 15 inch ghia wheels on it with standard tyres

what profile are the 15" tyres. Im assuming they would be around 65 - 70.
Should not make any difference at all because the wider rims will have a lower profile tyre on them |

Nope, they should be the same rolling diamater. You'll be fine.

I agree with you, through the car does feel slower with the 17inch rims on it. The tyres on the 15's are the standard 205/65 series.
It just feels slower with the 17's. It must be offseting the benefit of the diff ratio???

Ive taken the 17s off my EB V8 and slapped them on the EL. The
EB feels faster with the 15s and the EL feels slower by using the 17s?? Could it be the weight of the wheels if the rolling diameter is identical??

Yeah, it's due to the weight of the wheels.
Although I didn't really feel any difference going from S-pack 15's to my 17's. |

I can honestly say that you are better off spending the money into your motor than a diff. For that money you will be happier.

horse-$HIT... diff ratios cost you $300 brand new and i'd have to say they'll make the single biggest difference for that price to your car. more pickup at all speed name me one engine mod that will increase your acceleration this much for 300 odd bucks.
