Im not sure how it looks on your car but being a ford and assuming the engine in your car is pretty similar to mine the sensor is a decent sized gold mushroom head looking unit with a screw thread at the end that screws almost all the way in to the engine block and has a single wire connector on the end of it. It is a b**ch to get out without the car being on a hoist. I did it with a lot of swearing laying under the car and a sore back later. Mind you my car is a fairmont so there could be a bit of difference to yours.

it may not be loose but will leak out the body of the sensor/switch

no fix for this other than replacement

you can nip up the bolts on the sump but dont overtighten

removing sump to replace gasket requires removing engine or k frame

They leak out of the switch where the wire connects, always replace with a new switch and do not over tighten, the thread on the switch does not have to go all the way in, it is a tappered thread.

Degrease the whole area, and check it every few days or so, so you will be able to get a better idea where the leakage is - leaks have a habit of disguising their origin.
You might find it easiest to check the engine areas in the dark with a good torch.

Change the switch and before you put it back in to be double safe that it wont leak put a little bit of thread tape on the sender. As said above you don't have to screw it all the way in. I screwed mine in about 3 quarters to the end and it has not leaked oil and is working beaut. Then degrease the engine and keep an eye on it.

P.S have fun. :D
