What is the purpose of the hot air duct from the exhaust system to the air cleaner on the Central Fuel Injected Ford Falcon E series engines. I need to replace this duct if it is necessary for normal operation or environmental emission considerations.

yes there is! & it's only on the CFI motors ..... i'm presuming it's for cold start to help warm up motor. it was a requirement on older cars years ago to help warm up cold starts.
