well the motor is striped
the pistons, and bearing are in great shape... i will prob renew the bearings but leave the pistons and rods as is! this means more money for the head! :> yay

Dude, looks like you need a good bore and hone on cylinder 3 and 4 judging by the picture. While you are doing the head, get it shaved 20-30 thou and use 20 thou pistons to suit if you can.

Yeah I wouldnt get too carried away with plans until you measured the bores. On the engine I just pulled down the bores looked awesome and the pistons dont even have a mark on them but the bore out-of-round is just over specs so Im going .5 over.

I think that you will find that is probably gasket material sitting on the tops of the pistons on #3&4, mixed in with a bit of carbon. Pulco measure them up like Stockstandard said, and make the decision from there

well i just rung round some places to get some prices
guna cost about 150 for a rebore on the block 300 port and polish (just cleaning everything up, not going spastic!) 160 for a complete head service( not including all parts!) so at the moment everything is goin along nicely! the motor is completely stripped just have to clean bit n pieces up! hopefully will have all the work done by early - mid october!....stay tuned

Yes, stock pistons are acl duralite's as far as i know. So when you buy duralite your getting standard pistons whereas race series are for performance rebuilds.
as far as race series for our 6's, they are stronger, lighter, and basically tweaked for performance engines.

oh, and as far as comparing them to race series...
Assuming that duralites are stock replacements, acl race series have the following benefits - come weight balanced - lighter than stock pistons - look like the same castings, but are made from higher quality alloy making them stronger (ACL say 30% stronger) and have lower expansion as they get hot - tapered piston pins, stock on left, race series on right - pressure balancing groove for less blow by. Look between the 1st and 2nd rings, stock left, race series right - direct more oil to piston dome for better cooling

519's a pretty small cam. You will need to find a generous dyno to get 150 out of it.
