I am fully reconditioning my FG Falcon dedicated LPG 4 litre dual overhead cam engine and I am wondering what my performance modification options are, I want to put in a pair of performance "CROW" cams and high compression pistons but my concerns with high comp-pistons are, being a dedicated LPG engine will high-comp pistons make a notable difference in performance and with how hot LPG gas burns compared to petrol will high compression pistons burn out my valves and/or valve seats prematurely ??

I don't think Crow make cams for FG. I am pretty sure they stop at BF's

Being LPG, the octane rating is higher than petrol. IIRC, the pistons and rods being used in the LPG engines are from the turbo motors. The dedicated LPG engines put out more power and torque than the petrol engines in standard form. You would have to do a lot of measuring/calculating to make sure you didn't get pre-ignition ( pinging ) problems

The pistons would really have nothing to do with burning out valves. Again IIRC, if you have a dedicated LPG engine, the valves/seats/guides are from the turbo engine, and, if you have the head repaired correctly, the valves will be fine. By correctly I mean to suit LPG conditions.

Slightly old thread but hopefully it still applies.

I sold a set of BA Crow cams a few months ago (3231393 & 3241393) to a bloke with an N/A FG. they slotted straight in and ran fine with the exception of a bit of a low idle which was fixed with running the A/C lol.

So even though it warns against on the Crow site about FG cams being different, these ones worked just fine.
