Hi every1, im currently looking to purchase a new exhaust system in place of the stock one on my ef falcon. I have been looking around on ebay and have come across a red back system which comes with the choice of a rear muffler, hotdog or straight through tail pipe. I want to get better performance and a louder tone but keep it roadworthy at the same time.
Has anyone got one of these exhausts on their car? if so which tail pipe is the best to put on without being too loud? And what are the most popular exhaust systems going around for e series fords? Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0055732278 |

Yes, lot's of people with redback exhausts here.
They are very quiet with the rear muffler. Go the hotdog or to straight through rear section. $350 is a bit expensive though, try ringing around exhaust shops for quotes. Myself, and a few other's I know have gotten them for around the $260 mark fitted. |

One of those exhausts with the rear muffler will set you back $250 to $300 (absolute max) including fitting pretty much anywhere in Melbourne.
A rear muffler will keep it fairly quiet. A hotdog will be a bit louder, but will keep the freeway drone down. A straight through pipe would most likely be fairly loud and drony. |

I run the same as Southy and find it loud but not too bad at highway speeds.

Your probably looking at least a grand i'd say. Dunno why you'd bother with a cat though, unless there's something wrong with yours.

just get the one muffler no need for hotdog either ,and it wont drone unless you have really crap diff gears ,mine would only drone if it was above 2500 rpm ,and crusing at 110kmph it would sit on 2200 rpm so yeah it will be fine

Howdy - I got the redback zorst, no muffler - straight through - but I also got the pacies and high flow cat - so she roars like a werewolf on rabies...
If you don't want the attention of the loud zorst, but still want a good note, go with the hotdog on it... otherwise she's just far too quiet and there's not much point to doing it then... Personally I'd recommend going the straight through (like I did) and of course you won't really hear the zorst howling at all and it won't really bother YOU if you have your stereo turned up!! Can't say the same thing for your neighbours though....

Cool. Im going to get a red back exhaust but still not sure weather to go the hotdog or straight thru rear section. Id rather the straight thru but only if its not going to be an issue with roadworthiness bcos i cbf with defects and my car needs to get a rwc so it can be re registered.
Does any1 know for sure weather or not the straight thru pipe will be above noise levels here in vic? |
