D day has arrived. the exhaust has started to collapse. the cat died a while ago, now the mufflers are going too (blowing out chunks out of pipe)... perhaps 4wding in it wasnt such a great idea? lol... anyway
im looking to get an exhaust fitted to the au2 fairmont. have seen the redbacks on ebay, and wondering if theyre worth it? i can get my local job to fit + supply a mandrel 2.5 system for 350, but if the redback is really good, i may go that way... also, as far as cats go, what do i do? and i also have a brand new s/s rear muffler which i may use for this car and may not...

I have a redback system they are good as long as it is mandrel bent, as for the cat i was told that the cats on the AU do a good enough job.

most exahust shops will only sell the redback/lukey systems for their "sports" range.
getting one bent up costs more (here's the bit people will fight over) but you get better results, sound and power. redbacks are a great option and dont cost much. just make sure to get a highflo cat ~$150. good luck. |

No way, Lukeys sound much nicer. There mufflers are absolutely ace! Especially there stainless steel ultraflow or race mufflers! |

every brand will always have at least one incident were there's been quality issues. but that's not to say the installer didn't have anything to do with it! |

Too true, I honestly think there isnt much difference with redback and lukey exhausts themselves, its the mufflers.. n i got none |

Well the pipe is no different, same size and all that. We use marine grade stainless steel now for our exhaust, sadly we did mine before we found a place selling this for cheap, but on my mates VJ that just got finished and his old boys HZ we used it, the pipe should last ages (diff dumpers so no bends - except the tip), and the Lukey mufflers are sweet as.
