hey wadsup, i was just wondering... How long would you have to be driving at the redline to have something go wrong with your car? And what things would go wrong with the car?
Because i see in many racing games, To get best performance, you have to stay in the redline region of the tacho! |

well
i dont know exactly what will go wrong.. but im pretty sure it will hurt the car... and your wallet maybe over heat? maybe just blow something off and games.... NOT REAL im not sure where peak power is... but i think mine comes in (just from flooring it a little) 2-3k rpm which isnt red lining it

yeah i know games arnt real, but in games such as GT4, its meant to be a racing simulator, but still you should drive in the redline in it...and im pretty sure that even in Le Mans 24 hour they keep away from the redline

should change gears just on the red line or before it on gt4

AUII Forte engine != Race engine.
I cannot see any logical reason why anyone would need to drive there car at red line for extended periods of time (any longer than a buzz before a gear change) It wouldn't be for top speed, because of the speed limiter. And maximum power is about the 4500rpm mark, so there is no need to go over 5000rpm at all.

Mate...... stock cars are NOT race cars, and the Roads and NOT race tracks.. Stick to games if you want to drive that way.... Dont want to sound nasty over it but i am trying to save you money as things tend to bust driving like that.

It depends on the enigne. I take my car to 6000rpm probably once a week, but the engine has been balanced (and I am still making power). I seem to remember reading that stock 4.0L engines reliably detonate (throw rods) at 6400rpm, but some go earlier.

eeek!
have hit 5000rpm+ a few times showing commonwhores that fords can do it too .... As for this thread, rofl! If your going to be driving around redlining every gear you will end up being another statistic and a damn good reason P platers should be kept out of turbo's and V8's .... (That said I am on Greens myself but still you see some bloody idiots around) |
