I replaced the inlet manifold gasket on my '95 EF Fairmont on the weekend.

After reassembling everything, test-running, then test driving, everything was A-okay.

But this morning, there is a huge fuel leak coming from between the fuel rail, and the fuel reg.

I did unbolt the fuel reg during the manifold job.

I there some special technique or trick to re-seating the fuel reg? Might I have buggered the seal? Any advice on this one much appreciated, before I start pulling things apart.

There's too much fuel dribbling out to drive or start safely.

Help!

Hi mate, there is a o ring on the regulator that might have split or broken. I always replace them if dismantled and refit making sure you smear oil or grease on the rubber o ring for easy fit. Good luck :D

Thanks man, yes that's exactly what it was - had gotten pinched and slightly torn when it was reinserted.

But guess what? Checked with Ford and it's an obsolete part?!? Ended up having to scrounge one off a wrecker down the road so I could drive home tonight.

You can buy aftermarket units if you have no luck.

Went to Repco, they didn't have any (at the store I went to). I live in Auckland. Maybe other Repco or Supercheap stores might have had them. I'm very surprised Ford have made a part like that obsolete already. Absurd. What next, EF brake pads?!

The car cranks longer now before firing on start up, seems to be taking longer to build correct fuel pressure. Wondering what could have changed since I had all the injection system undone?

225 piece O-ring set from supercheap: $12 . Good investment if you do alot of maintainence and work on your car as second hand O-rings are as good as second hand oil filters.

I even get neibours coming over asking to "borrow" some.

Excellent I'll go there on the weekend. Then swap out that used one I had to put in tonight in the carpark at work to make the thing safe enough to run.
