tickford is exactly the same bottom end, the only difference on the motor is the head has bumped up compression, bigger exhaust valves and a slightly better cam

If there is a welsh plug behind the cam sync sensor then it'll be in an oil gallery and wont need changing because anything in oil doesn't corrode.

Cheers,
Tim

Ok I get it ,does anyone know how far the drill bit should go in and is the hole for it to go into on TDC?

You pull it out...

Then you insert the drill bit and rotate the shaft until the drill bit drops in and the shaft turns no more...

It is TDC you insert it at... Not sure if it is firing no.1 or rocking no.1 though... I would think TDC firing no.1 though... The whole thing will twist as you insert it... You clamp it then and pull the drill bit out... As far as I'm told anyway... Never done it...

Still don't remember there being a welsh plug behind it... How about you post up a pic for us?

Cheers,
Tim

The whole sync sensor will turn when you turn the motor?

Turn it further and push on the sensor harder... The aftermarket dizzy's have a o ring and things like that take a fair bit of force to get in... The sync sensor may have a o ring too? Also put some oil on the o rings to help them slide in...

Did you get the engine to no.1 firing or no.1 rocking?

Cheers,
Tim

This is a CAM ANGLE SENSOR (as suggested), not a dizzy.

It has to be kept in line with the motor. If you have the pin in the thing, then motor must be at top dead centre. How do you tell if it is top dead centre or not?

Cylinder one should be at top.

But how do you tell if this is on exhaust stroke or firing stroke?

You remove the rocker cover and then line up the mark on cam chain so it is a a few mm higher than the right hand side of the head.

Uhm. Even then, they are a b**ch to get back in. Just wiggle, and fiddle.

Just a thought...
As these cars fire on exhaust and compression stroke why do you need cam angle sensor to be correct anyway?
Maybe it likes firing the injectors at the right time or something? Probably run if it was on wrong stroke. Maybe. Let me know. With video.
