yeah I had the sump cut and weld to suit my EL but when the bloke welded it he only welded the outer side of the sump not the inside aswell cause he said it would of been too much hassle drilling and tapping the oil splash baffle so he said to me there no need to weld the inside anyway but I thought it would of giving it a better seal. yeah only reason im asking is that where he welded at the bottom of the sump its leaks a little bit which I not happy about. im so over at fixing my dam car

Can be done but FAR easier to pull the whole thing.

My mate has just done same process and he has a bar that goes across top of engine and rests on side of engine bay which supports the motor then he dropped k frame and sump,he reckons it is heaps easier to do that way.

Probably one of the best ways of doing it. Thats how i would do it also.

Motor out and make him fix it. Test the thing next time. Use food dye and water.

I would reccommend Motor out, as with the AU Engine you have the cross bolts on the sump. A bit different to the E Series motor where all the sump bolts are just through the bottom of the pan.
I am not saying that you couldn't do it but I reckon that it would be easier and safer taking the engine out. |
