I need to pull the head off my VCT motor and to do that i need to get the timing chain off
How do these come off? Do you just unbolt the torx screw in middle of VCT actuator and loosen off the chain tensioner? Someones gotta know, don't wanna screw it up lol

For anyone who wanted to know the VCT unit itself mounts to the cam sprocket using some form of screw i haven't seen before but it can be removed from the cam still attached to the sprocket using a T55 TORX head socket to undoe the bolt attaching it all to the camshaft.

never pulled one apart myself but im of the understanding that you need to secure part of the vct mechanism cause its spring loaded.

One of my mates is an ex-Ford mechanic, he says under no circumstance disassemble the VCT unit. They can't be put back together. You have to be a new one from Ford (at huge expense).
Explanation is: the VCT, sprocket and cam are assembled on a special machine to make sure they're all aligned properly. You can't do this yourself - nor can Ford dealers.

You can't do this yourself - nor can Ford dealers. you can pull them apart, and thet will go back together, the hard part is amking sure they are timed, if you knew timing before disassembly then it would be easy
