Is there a special tool or something? Its a heavy beeatch to lift out of that shroud thingo...
Any tips on how to do it without spending 30 bucks at ford..?

just undo it and lift it out. lift the shroud with it if you like, and remove it out of the car. just remember your radio code if its the factory unit

yer the shroud is a tightish fit
most times i rip the battery and shroud out together at the same time

AND make sure you get a battery that has built in handles, MUCH easier to replace

LMAO, dont stuff around trying to yank it out, use a cpl of ringed spanners to slot over each terminal n pull it out like it weighs nothing.. simple as!
If you get another battery, it makes it easier to have a handle, but how often do you remove your battery espicially if you have a good one in all seriousness?!

i get small zaps and twitches from doing that. the 12v goes through you.

Ive never had this happen, be the same as touching both terminals. You could still do it with one or not hold onto the metal directly if this is bothering you lol.. Not saying its best way, but its fast, works perfectly and costs nothing - ive done the whole lifting it out by the terminals (which is a killa) and much prefer this method!!

ive only had this problem once
 never put the battery box back in, and yes im sure some of you will say but your battery will die. Its been going for over a year now and hasnt died due to heat, so bugger ford

Try a 19mm and a 17mm spanner for the 2 different size terminals, works killer.

I just take two of the caps off, and use my fingers in the holes to lift it up...not the smartest thing but it worked. Ive now got two little metal hooks that i can put in the holes and pick the battery up with.

But on the other hand if you lived out in western queensland where the average summer temp is around 40 degrees everyday. Then i would say your battery wouldn't last very long.. Century batteries have handles......................makes it easy. Just replaced the old century battery on saturday. Been in car for nearly 3 years. Replaced with the same type (Century 57EF-Suited for EF,EL,AU&BA falcons and has 450CCA..) |
