my xh xr6 has started running rough, i have so far replaced the plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor and fuel filter ! this hasnt helped it so im starting to wonder if its the coil or the TFI module ?? If anyone could give me some advice on if this could be the problem and how to replace them, it will be greatly appreciated !! Cheers Jesse |

Look at the line from your intake manifold to you map sensor. Or you could start the car and look at the exhaust pipe rev it and see if black smoke comes out. Iv had a similar problem except in a eb falcon.

Sorry should have clarified, any cracks basically. If its not blowing any smoke it might not be the map.

Ok then !
It only happened all of a sudden if that helps!! And I've been told that its not the coil because if the coil fails the car won't go ! Is that right ? Cheers |

Yes, to an extent. The coil can be cracked and still work most if the time. When the car is running look at the coil and see/listen if there's a clicking sound coming from it.
If its cracked it will earth (arcing from the hv end to any easy "earth" positive negative it makes no difference to hv terminals)

Yer, check it then!
The important part is to set the ecu into diagnostics mode. Here's a link I found on google: http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com/foru ... iming-Help

Check it then, when I replaced my welch plugs I removed the dizi and didn't do the timing properly and it ran like crap, after I learned how to do it it was all sweet again.
