This is probably a retarded question, but with the drama's I had over the past 2 weeks with this car I thought I would double check with the Masters:
Changing the coolant level sensor and have put a new seal on it. I ran some Vasaline on the seal when I put it on the sensor and now I was thinking of running some on the outside of the sensor too when I place it in the res tank. Would this be advised or just throw it in dry? |

The mechanic I used to get to do work on my cars used to put a light smear of water proof grease on them to help form a seal....Apparently it worked really well.

a little vasoline will be fine... laugh if you want. even ky or waterbased lube will also do the job...

or use rubber grease as it will lubricate the seal and will not make it expand.....

yeah, I dont like to ram it home dry as it burns, a bit of lube before insertion is always best
