hey everyone
i've pulled some rocker gear off a head i have and i pulled the hla out and i was trying to get them shim out and i poked it out from the top and it came out with a heap of broken metal.. on close inspection it seemed to be a round retainer (im not talking about the shim).. is this normal?? |

you can buy them from repco etc which repco is that? when i did my head i rang several and none had a f**k clue what i was on about... talk about a pain in the a*** putting it back together without them

Buy aftermarket ones that dont use the retainers. I got them from Veals

im talking about ones that would go between the lash adjuster and the shim. ? |

Are your sure it metal it could be the black lifter clip that go hard like metal from hot and cold few thousand times in it life

some lifters do have a metal retainer on the bottom and the plastic retainer on top

No, I managed to get ones that were all metal. And once you gently inserted them they held in solid.
They looked simaler to the one pictured just without the black plastic bit was replaced with a metal bit. |
