ive got a strange one for yas...

i thought EA-ED rev limits were set at 5400rpm, right?

i pulled out infront of a car accidently today and had to give it to my EA, and i held it all the way to 5400.... only to discover it happily kept going until fuel cut out at 6000rpm :?

did some EA-EDs have a raised limiter or something? or is my car electronically f**k? lol

i know mine has one, and its a series one EA, because it gets to it and then it does what a rev limiter does lol, and cuts fuel momentarily.

ummmmmm yeah.....EB'S dont have rev limiters, go to 6000rpm, but any person with respect for their car*unless built for it* knows 4,500-5,000 is more then enough its not a revving engine. Torque is the key...

There was alot of variation with the earlier rev limiters. The figure was meant to be set to 5100RPM for EB series (6 cyl).

For the later ECUs they got a 5700 rev limiter.

In the V8's you will see the common EF/EL ECU having a rev limiter cutting revs at 6200 releasing the limiter when it falls back to 6100.

The XR8's and the like were set to cut at 8000 and come back to 7500 before been released.

Before people bounce up about the numbers - any ECU can have any numbers, I'm just talking about the majority of the ecu population.

Cheers,
justfordima
