one of the work utes BFII got flooded in 1m of water couple of days ago and the engine has seized, would it be possible to bring the engine back to life?

if it took in water while running and it tried to compress it in the cylinder and bent something. no. motors f**k.
had 5 cars this week in at my work that need new engines

need more info is it seized from just sitting there with water in it or ?? if its just had water in it take all the plugs out and put a mixture of kero and diesal down each hole and let sit for a few days then just work the bolt on the harmonic balancer back and forth till it turns easy and try turning over after all that with no plugs in to free up the pistons in the bore replace all oils but i cant see why you cant save the engine if nothing has been bent? and you are gentle.

well as far as i know its been driven into a deep puddle and died in the middle of it, water in the diff and box too. can get eng n trans for free but not interested in boat anchor, only info i can get at the moment is that its seized and there just gonna replace it

If it's hydraulicked ?? As said above take plugs out.. Crank engine over...
Install plugs and way you go... You won't do any more damage than whats already been done... Yes there could be one or two bent rods.. Don't rev the crap out of it till you know it's going good... Check air cleaner etc and remove any water...

Or you could not worry about it and just scrap it now. Or you could get it going and it'll run for years. at worst it's scrap, by just getting it going you have nothing to loose. To the OP In any case, just claim it on insurance. |

No one has asked this yet I dont think, but was the motor running when the water went in or was it parked and the water rose around it and just filled up from being under a metre of water? If its the later, pull the plugs and turn it over, it might well be fine. Id guess thered be a few things wrong with it though. If it were running when it went under id say its fooked. I wouldnt want to be the owner in a few yrs time when the rust issues begin... |

imo as long as it wasnt at any hard throttle or higher than average rpm when it took on water it will more than likely be ok..
the engine may have stalled/sufficated before any major hydrolok damage was done?? |

My Au swallowed water once, it did go on to make nearly 160 rwkw. When that motor came out it had a bent rod in cyl 6. Pull the plugs, inject some oil into the cylinders and just turn the key.
After all if you can get a new motor for nothing what's the harm in trying?
