Hi guys, having a strange issue with my series 2 au falcon. Basically whats happening is under heavy breaking and even normal breaking, just before the car stops the revs will drop down bellow idle to the point is feels like its about to stall, but it never does. Then the revs pick back up and it will idle normal. Other than that the car runs fine, idles normal, no loss of power or any power surge. Any ideas what could be the problem? Cheers

Could be the TPS? I would also check to see if the inlet manifold is loose or, if you have any vacuum leaks.
The TPS is rather expensive from Ford but maybe you could find one on Ebay? They are different from the series I also. |

Does it feel like the transmission is still trying to drive? Could be the torque converter not disengaging from lock up. Has the transmission been serviced regularly?
Try putting it into neutral then braking and see if the revs still drop down. Cheers Mick |

MY EL Fairmont Ghia does the same thing, only when at operating temp though.
Driving along, in D. Come to stop at intersection, it goes to downshift to first gear, revs drop to 500 RPM, car shakes like it is going to stall, revs up to 1500 RPM and shifts down. |
