Hey guys, just got my car converted to manual, and im still using my ef tickford ecu using a ef tickford manual j3 chip..now when changing gears, the revs hang and don't drop for ages..Even when pushing the clutch in the revs stay high for a while before slowly droping..

I know the ecu is probably still learning so ill leave it for 500km's but could there be another issue?

Mine did the same when i did the EF conversion. They do this alittle from factory for some gay reason. You can simply bypass the ISC, and raise your base idle top suit.

Mine has been perfect since.

You can tune that via the chip, I think its called Dashpot? I havent changed the settings on mine as its fine now.

I have my ISC removed completely with a billet cover, though before I simply unplugged it, and set my idle via the screw to about 800 warm, 700 cold. Depending on your engine, it could need to be higher, or work fine lower.

ISC = Epic fail on manuals.

Does this only happen with converted cars?
If so I guess the J3 chip with a manual bin on it will fix the problem?

My EF and My EL have both been converted to manual.

The EF would always hold revs - and we could not figure out why. At one stage, I thought that it was ECU related, until I installed a Manual XR6 ECU. That did not fix the issue.

My EL is running a standard Ghia ECU (no J3 chip, and I still have my SPSS, so it still has to be the ghia ECU), and it has never held revs.
Both cars still had the ISC in place. Unplugging it in the EF made no difference to the car - it still did it (I had never blanked it off) and the EL still uses the ISC. If I unplug the ISC, the car will not idle, I needed to use the throttle to get the car to idle (otherwise it would stall).

My cars factory manual.

J3 chips are good.

Cost $100 - $200.

If you need to use the throttle to get the car to idle you need to turn the idle screw up.

It will hurt the car because it causes unnecessary wear on the clutch because you are unable to adjust the rpm properly for the next gear. If you try to change gears quicker than a granny the problem becomes far worse, and if you have a ripshifter and bang through the gears you'll quickly f**k the clutch, and find the car jumps and carrys on like a b**ch.

I'll say it again

ISC = Epic fail on manuals

Factory manuals do seem to do it, my mates does it, and mine did it.

Otherwise, what krisis said. I have a TI performance J3, and my car is the bomb digity, although i still have isc removed. Only thing that sucks balls is whenever my climate is on, the car wont idle because of the cam, so i have to come up with some sort of solienoid to trigger slight increase in rpm whenever the compressor kicks in.

when you get the chip tuned, set the "Dashpot" settings to "0"..... no more rev hang, and you can leave the ISC plugged in to help with cold starts, air con etc.

Do they still struggle with cams though?

not when its tuned to idle properly. Your tuner, or galapogus should know exactly what the trick is

i know my 977b was making the isc surge up and down with the idle, and chiptorque programmed some s**t into the chip thats fixed it, but they made the car idle at 1000rpm's.... so ive had to make another gasket with smaller holes so it idles perfect now.

ive also found that overly advanced timing and the idle screw too far screwed in can cause this
