well i got my car fixed at GOOD YEAR. they charged me 819 bux for a new starter motor, Exdel Extra Heavy Duty battery, 2 new tyres and rear brakes for my EA. the starter motor could have been done for less then 200 and they charged me 280. Even after 819 bux spent the car doesn't start smooth, but at least the starter motor ain't slipping.
are there any MECHANICS out there who can fix stuff cheaper in melbourne? pref in the northern suburbs so i dun have to drive so far. gotta get my tranny fixed, something broke in half and a whole heap of other stuff. thanks

im not exactly sure why...
good year are based on tyres.... if you get a mechanic based on doing just that... it'll be cheaper

yeah i guess, but my car had a hard time starting so the quickest way is to go to them, since they are closest
kinda sux but the job was done with new tyres. all i need to do is change fuel filter and probably distributor cap which sounds hard to change.

plugs are about 10000KM. leads are old but are still in working condition since spark is coming out. i think its the dizzy cap but not sure. i dun even know what the rotor is :S. is that the thing underneath the dizzy cap?
well i hoipe its just the fuel filter and spark leads

I work next to a Beaurepairs, and found out the other day that the mechanic there has no training or qualifications, but he still does all the mechanical jobs that come in.

just cos you've got spark doesnt mean the leads are good.... leads are prone to failing under load when they get older

Doesn't matter how much you drain it, there'll always be a fair bit of fuel left in it. (last time I did it i got it in my ear)

yeah because we are all very dodgy and rip everyone off all the time. hell thats what the 4 year apprenticeship is for.. learning all the different ways to rip people off. ways to make it look like you have done more you realy did. because that what we are all like. d**k head |

If my car broke down again, ill try to figure it out and do it myself. since i don't have the rite tools to do the job or dun want break more stuff in my car. id rather take it to a mechanic.
if the job was done well then ill come back for another visit when something happens. nothing wrong with mechanics unless u know they are dodgy. Not all mechanics are dodgy. BTW i got another issue. my new fuel pump didn't work before when i started it. i fiddled with the wiring a bit in the bonnet as well as the relays and it started again. could the relay be broken and should be replaced? or check wiring?
