EA-AU and XH are all interchangable.
Though EA-ED have studs, and EF-AU have bolts (which tighten and seal better)

This is only about a week old: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47544
The EA-ED covers run rubber half moons, while EF and later (incl XH) have them cast into the cover.

EF cover does not fit EB/ED head properly. I tried it and the overall length does not match up in the cam bore area.
