ok this might sound stupid but i was curious to know if clear rocker covers are possible to make, and i dont want one i had a dream about one

well i guess its possible why tho tehy wouldnt be clear for long they will get covered in oil lol

there are some thermosetting polycarbonates on the market that allow for that kind of high temp applications. GE use one that they call LEXAN, a registred name, and yes is it possible to be clear. Bakelite would flow at too low a temp to be useful.


The problems is see, are
- The temperatures are high enough to make thermosetters flow
- Injection moulding of the part
- Ensuring that a seali formed by the cover
- Keeping the bloody thing clean

Not a bad idea, a litlle half baked, but if you pull it off..........

I've seen on jap import DVDs they have clear timing covers on some of the drag cars... but then again there are some of them which run no timing cover at all!!
