Hi,

I've got a bare EF head that i want to use with the rocker gear & cam from my EA head (which has blown).

Problem is the head specialist i'm using seems to think the EA rocker gear won't fit because the EA rocker pedestals are bigger. At the moment I can't get my EA rocker gear to him to check and see if it'll fit in the EF head.

Can anyone confirm for me that the EA rocker assembly will in fact fit into the EF head and work properly?

Cheers
Marc

I'm not real sure but i can't see why they wouldn't.

I just recently purchased a whole ef motor, and when changing the head i noticed that one of the rocker pedastels had been replaced with the larger type from an ea, and it had been running fine.

well i guess i'll go ahead and get the head serviced, then fit up my ea rocker gear and see how it goes.

on another note, how do these prices sound?

Cold bar test - $80
pressure test - $60
Head skim - $60

cheers

EA rocker gear & cam will fit onto EF head without any problems. I've replaced my EA head with and EF head.

After buying extra shims for a reground cam, I was told I should have used EF rocker gear as it's better (for reasons not mentioned). The EF shims are a different diameter too. You may want to change the rocker cover over to an AU as they look better and don't leak oil like the EA-ED covers.

I believe the HLA's for EF/EL have less ticking issues.
