hey, guys, I was wondering if anyone can help my FG which is a 2011 it has a really rough idle, in neutral and park it is okay but once in drive and reverse it shakes and the RPMs stay at 500rpm.
There is a video I found online my car is exactly like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UllgHh- ... nel=pundip so far I've changed Spark plugs One o2 sensor I'm going to do the other one soon coils have been checked the throttle body has been changed I've ran 98 in my tank for a while now and I've put injector cleaner in a couple of times i would appreciate any help, thank you |

I'm thinking a small vacuum leak on the inlet manifold... somewhere!

How would I test it?

The pro' method is to use a smoke machine. Pump smoke into the inlet manifold & look for smoke escaping the manifold or vacuum hoses.
A trained ear may also pick up a "hiss", or use a process of elimination by disconnecting vacuum lines one by one at the manifold, block the hole & see if the idle issue goes away. If it does you've found the leak. Another method is spraying carby cleaner around the manifold gasket. This will alter the idle if the spray gets sucked in through a hole. The idle will increase &/or stabilize as the "lean" cylinder gets more fire juice. |

No. If the catalytic converter collapses, the engine simply won't rev at all & will spew chunks of debris out the tailpipe usually.
Your issue may also be a blocked fuel injector. Your issue only affects the idle, so I'd guess either intake leak, or fuel related. |

That's up to you.
Change out the other 02 censor first, maybe consider new coils too but in my experience, a faulty coil pack will make the engine trip all over its face when it's either idling or trying to produce power on the road. Faulty 02 censor will likely make the engine run lean or rich. You could also ask a mechanic to use an OBD2 diagnostic tool, see if the ECM is throwing fault codes. |
