Hey i have a 2003 ba xr6 manual its 6 months old and its riddled with problems. (my fault for tusting a dealership on a cheap price) anyways one of the problems is a rough iddle at traffic lights or when 1st starting in the morning, most of the time its when im in neutral at the lights occasionaly it will stall i have heard that this can be a problem for an xr6 i was just wondering if anyone had a solution.

i bought it with 124000 it now has 138000 ive only done basic maintenence filters, oil, brake/clutch fluid etc. im in the middle of a working out some sort of deal with the dealer my car basically s**t the bed 3 days outside of warranty and i took it to ford and they did a free inspection for me, and said i need new throttle boddies and a new slave and master cylinder for my clutch possible suspicious water damage. But in saying that ive heard of people chainging throttle bodies, adjusting fuel sensors, remaping computer etc and nothing changed and they all wasted alot of money i was just wondering if you know of a different solution.

Try changing spark plugs for a start then possibly the coils.

yeah mate mine has just started to do the same (june 05 BA MK2 XR6 with only 47000km)
i just got back from 6 weeks holidays and was driving around perth when i got back and it did it 2 or 3 times while idling at lights over 4 days... it was idling fine then it would just about die then come back to life and be happy idling away again (never done that before) yes i dont drive my ute much coz i work away and when i do drive it it mainly does 500 km round trips back to the farm and a little bit of city driving i wouldnt think it would be spark plugs and thats coz its not that old realy. i thought it might be some crap fuel since it was sitting for so long, but if there is another problem would be interesting to find out |
