I've been trying to diagnose this problem for months now.. so far i've replaced the isc and oxy sensor and disconnected the isc and upped the idle - the problem still occurred.
The interesting thing i've found is that it doesn't seem to happen all the time - or sometimes its not as bad. I recently had my head gasket replaced and when i got it back after a few days the car ran sweet as for a day or so and gradually got worse till it had degraded back to running like absolute crap. |

Was wondering, when was the last time you had your injectors serviced. if an injector is leaking it can cause a rough idle. You will notice that when it comes to starting your car first thing in the morning, the fuel pressure has dropped over night cos of leaking injector. It would cause the car to take a little bit more to crank then normal. Cos one cylinder flooded.
But once your going, it gets easier to start for a while. Service your injectors and go from there. Just an idea.

I have my ef xr6 converted to dual fuel - the problem seems to happen on lpg aswell.
Is it possible that a leaky injector would affect the mix when on lpg and the injectors are cut off? Also to service them - do i just put an injector cleaner through them or take them somewhere for a service? |

If an injector is leaky it will cause problems on Lpg OR Petrol, as it is letting in fuel regardless of power being applied to it. This will cause a rich mixture. If you want to test this, unplug your fuel pump at the boot, and relieve the fuel pressure under the bonnet. Run it for a few days without fuel (if the LPG will start without it) and see if this helps.
BTW, Fizzer, timing gun is now fixed

unless he had injected LPG.. then a leaky injector wouldn't be the problem.
I've got a dual fuel EB. I put shims in the HLA's after a re-grind and it started doing it. Idle was terrible and it would drop and surge or 'hunt' as some people describe it. Anyways, took out the shims and it went back to normal.. I think it's more likely to be a vacume leak perhaps. It's never really idled the best since putting in the cam.. |

I'm talking about the petrol injectors only. I don't see how injected lpg can stop a petrol injector from leaking unless they are a complete replacement for the petrol ones - but his is dual fuel. Can you explain how injected lpg differs?
If its leaking without power, its capable of leaking continuously, therefore providing a rich mixture on both lpg or petrol, regardless of how the lpg is getting in there.

there is a thread a guy came up with about changing a few caps in the ecu. apparently something to do with the caps having a smoothing effect on what the isc does as not to raise the idle way to quick
if it makes you feel better, got a mate, ef, with the same prob. he's been told its got something to do with a faulty ecu. so thats what i think it is
