hey guys, ive got a 94 ed fairmont ghia, i remember the days when i used to be able to get 500-550 out of a tank (PULP). now im only getting 420-440klms. ive cleaned the injectors (whilst they were on the fuel rail). a mechanic told me it was the oxy sensor but i changed that and it hasnt done s**t. also checked the resitances in my eng coolent tep sensor but there all fine. buggered if i know what the problem is. its not my driving coz im a self proclaimed "nanna" driver (Hence user name NANNAS_ED).

anyway maybe someone out there could tell me what the problem/s are.

thanks

those are the mmost atrocious economy figures i have ever heard of. In a heavy mod V8 maybe thats what you would expect but assuming that you havent modified a great deal i would be taking a trip to your local ford dealer and getting it checked out. Check your cat to make sure it isnt blocking up cos that will cause it to use a bit more fuel. Whats the power of the car like? Or idle quality. Check for black smoke from the exhaust, this is an indication that it is running rich (unburned fuel) And if u take it to a ford dealer, get them to throw the cam tester on it and see if there is any fault codes logged.

idles fine nice an smoth. put in on the 4gas analyzer and the fuel/air ratio reading about 13.67:1. havnt checked that cat yet. ill do that. anything in particular to look out for (never seen inside b4). its not blowing black smoke either. i know that this sound like the car is running great, it is for its age but id love to get that extra 100k outta every tank.

Check that your tps is under 1 volt [koeo] at idle 0.9v to be safe...
Check vacuum lines to map senser ???
Deffective map senser's can run rich..
Any leaks and it'll run rich..
Check or replace plugs, cap and leads...
Check vacuum line to fuel regualator...
Pull vacuum line off fuel reg , check that no fuel is leaking
through diaphram in fuel regulator ??
