Just filled up my 96EL I6 on E10 (about 30lt) and the next day it's running on 5 cylinders, restarting several times it clears, then next start back on 5.
Anyone had the same problem?
I tired E10 about 6 months ago also same result, I changed the fuel filter in case it had blocked.
Run it for a while and put normal fuel in, sweet as ever since. :(

E10? That's that ethanol s**t isn't it?

Good to see that it doesn't work and the media publications and press releases regarding it's "safe for use" has been proven wrong.

Thanks for trying it and letting us know what it's like.

Is it much cheaper than unleaded or premo?

I got it for $117.9 in Brisbane. 5 cents a lt cheaper than 91 and about 10 cents cheaper than 98.

f**k you mainlanders have got it easy. :D The reason (so were told) as to why we don't get paid as much as our mainland counterparts, is becuase "the cost of living on the mainland is higher". s**t it is. Every time I go over there, everything is bloody cheaper! Fuel, grocerys, cars. The only thing that's dearer are houses, but Tassie is catching up super quick!

did you basically fill your whole tank with this stuff?. I wonder if it would be better to mix 1/3 to 2/3 regular.
A little off topic but what engine does your ambo have 351w by chance?

I only filled it with 30 lts, it did 150km today to and from work and ran sweet as. But tomorrow will be another day and I'll top up with normal 91.
The Ambo had a 351 with a 4 barrel carb and extractors and on petrol it got to 100 mph damn quick!!!
Sold it last month $3500, must update my profile.

I too once filled up with e10 from a united station, and it was sweet till the next time I turned the engine over. It stalled about twice coming through the garage and its a three-spd auto! Got the fuel filter changed, and filled up with the normal unleaded.

However since I rarely drive, I've started just putting in $20 a week of petrol until I hit about 3/4 tank full (by the dodgy gauge), then I started putting in the e10.

So far its been fine running this mixture, and it does feel like its got a bit more acceleration and such, but this could be just me hopping back into the car and booting it after a five-day withdrawal of driving.

I used e10 in my EF for ages cause it was significantly cheaper. Car ran great got more k's out of tank than usual (not huge amount but maybe a days extra driving).

Now I get what ever. Dunno if it is just me but it seems that if I use E10 for a while then switch to std ULP the car feels better but then when I use ULP for a while and change to E10 the car feels better too.

I think I'm going crazy....

Interesting.
I read an article where they tested E85 on a hipo forced 5L, in america.
They found that to get the same AFR's they had to inject alot more fuel.

Could be (this is just swinging a s**t idea :P), when you first switch to E10, it runs slightly leaner, bit more power over the rich as f**k factory programming.
Once the EEC learns around it, and injects more fuel, it goes back to normal.
Then, when you switch back to ULP, it again runs a tad leaner, till the EEC again gets back to where it wants.
Course it would be on a small scale due to only a 10% mix.

well it would be good if people re read some of the articles on the subject.
all write ups have said for the first one or two tanks the car will run a bit differently but will normalise.

i have used e10 in my ea and never had a problem.

try it before you bag it that way you'll know what your talking about.

My EL idled very rough when I used ethanol added fuel, it was not good in slow heavy traffic, tryed it again after a AU XR6 installed run as rough as the original EL motor. Also, have tried Premium petrol actually ran slightly rough on idle no better fuel consuption. I will stay with 91 petrol. My injectors were/are clean.

How does E10 ebenfit the car? wats the point of putting ethanol into the petrol?

ethanol raises the octance but lowers the actual power available from the fuel. This is because ethanol have a lower btu than petrolium. Ethanol will also absorb water so if you have water in the tank it will go through your fuel system (not necessarilly a bad thing). Some conjection on my last point though, and that is that ethanol has oxygen molecules which *may* help it promote a better burn. This explains why in many tests ethanol mix cars go further than petrol cars even though petrol cars theoretically have more energy to burn.

One of the other problems with ethanol and older cars is that it can break down the linings and seals in the fuel system. One main problem that could arise is blocked injectors.
