It ended up costing me about $175 to fix the 1/4 window of my EF after a brake in. That was new glass, installed. After the whole experience I didnt know who was the bigger theaf - the guy that broke the window and took the sound system, the guy that fixed the window, or the bastards at the insurance company that wouldnt cover it because I couldnt supply the details of the persons who caused the damage.

Yeah for some thieves they can be easy to break in too. As I remember when I was doing Security work for one of the most well known Hospitals in Sydney last year. We had 15 EF & EL Falcons get broken in too over 2 nights. The thing is people didn't know they had been broken in to after they drove off and thats when they noticed s**t missing from inside their Car! It was like some theif had got his hands on a Master key as the only signs of Forced entry was the Key hole covers had been broken on most of the Falcons i wonder if theirs was broken into outside the hospital the same way mine was, i found out when i tried to unlock the drivers door with the key instead of using the remote, those tibbe locks, or whatever they're called, aren't what they're cracked up to be and actually make it easier for the thief |

Yeah with the ba's apparently they are easy to break into. I found out how to do it. And we didnt notice till i found my bag missing. I checked the car over and found a small mark, the sligest mark, and they were in. The bastards got over $5,000 worth of stuff, most of it mine.
So one of the things i am gonna do is get a proper alarm system, and fix my broken lock (the key guide thingy has popped off)

Lol, next time go for the non-fixed glass!!! A new passenger window is like $30 from a wreckers and can be replaced with a socket and 45minutes of your time...

safest way to avoid your car getting broken into like that is to bog up the keyholes
Thats what im planning to do anyway, rely on the factory remote locking, and if that dies ... tough s**t to me i guess My dads V8 EL Fairmont Ghia has the same missing lock cover, apparently someone tried to brake into it OUT THE FRONT OF OUR HOUSE. Scabby bastards, least they didnt get into the car... |

There are some wierd things that happed to our car over the past 3 years, its a 97 EL Gli, we have had the boot broken into, resulting in $1000 worth of tools disapearing. The way the blokes broke into the boot was quick and easy, would have taken em the same amount of time as it does to unlock the boot with the key.
We also have had our lock cap removed on the drivers side door, dad found it on the road beside the car one night after work. This must be the easy way to break into late model falcons, after removing that cap there must be a way for easy access. Thanks guys Cranners

a bit of useless information: if you have a tibbe key you can use it to lock any other car with tibbe locks. but no, you can not unlock it
