Hi Gents,

Yeah well from these photo's you can understand i got my a*** into gear and modified the factory airbox to take the 3.5inch pipe and pod filter.

Got rid of the heat shielding tape aswell.

Very happy with the result, thank christ i had a good holesaw kit and a spare airbox lid in the shed. Still want to be able to use the factory intake etc...in the future..

Cheers Luke.
well done, if only you cut the hole just enough for the pipe to slide throu, then seal it. why did you remove the heat shield tape? that was a bonus dude!.

Coz he could not see the shiny bits then. But that is a big improvement. Should go sweet now.

if its sitting loose in the bay, then it will be drawing in hot air from the bay and thus reducing performance to the point where its a performace decreace instead of an increace. when its in the box it gets nice cold pressurised air, and runs alot better :D , and btw, nice job man, good to see you finished it, all it needs now is a seal

a) probably the difference between roadworthy and not roadworthy

b) if not in box, just drawing in hot air from the engine bay. Hot air, less dense, bad for power. Hot air also more likely to ping... In box, drawing in cold air from the shcoop = good.

The induction noise has gone down by about 50%! It is still alot louder than the flat panel setup. It mainly cuts down that roaring sound you get when taking off from a set off lights.

Cheers..

Ah ha, so the hotter the air, the less power the engine uses?

The hotter the air, the less power the engine makes.

Ive been told that it doesnt really matter if the Pod is in a Box or not, jsut as long as you have the intake snorkle on it gets cool air, the extractors are on the other side of the engine so it doesnt get hot.

just what i heard,

cheers kyle

Take your car for a long drive and try to change your plug leads :)

The engine bay gets hot, no matter which side the extractors are on.

next time you go for a drive compare the 2 sides of the engine bay! you'll find the extractor side is a heap warmer. box or no box, minimal difference.
