yeah 180rwkw is very close to the limit of stock head flow (i think).... obviously a longer duration camshaft is being used....ive had a little read of the regs and its very limited what can be done on the heads (match porting basically and some playing around with valve seat angles)...

For all the specs on the cars - check the CAMS Manual
http://www.camsmanual.com.au/02_race.asp#6th (Saloons are category K Touring cars.) I am pretty confident the AU's and VT's have a lot more power than 179rwkw. My EA Saloon has 164.6 rwkw, and I am running that on BP Ultimate (the National guys all run e85). The AU's and VT's fly. They pull so much distance on the straights from the EA'S AND VN's its not funny. Power figures are usually kept pretty secretive. One of the guys had there EA dyno'd at the same place as mine earlier this year, and although I wasn't told the figure, I was told it was more than mine. Its a really fun category - and very affordable. You can pick up EA Saloons from about $5k. AU saloons are usually around the $30k mark (although there is one for sale in Geelong at the moment for $15k, but it needs a lot of work) If anyone is thinking about getting into state or national circuit racing, and was after a cheaper option - I would highly recommend looking into saloons.  Some of the VT's and AU's  Some VN's and EA's (I am the nitro blue #77 car above)

Mods are very limited. You cant even run the serpentine belt setup. (Which is annoying, cos I keep throwing power steering belts.)

Yep XR8chic knows, they do have the super 6's over here but its like unknown  I remember seeing it a couple of times and hearing about it though other guys, they mostly run boxcars and VN's though havent seen any other later models over here yet. Only thing i know about them is that they apparently run full Coby exhaust systems. Wish they would show the bloody races on TV though, would be cool to see the good old 6's hammering around the track

Hey,
For anyone in Victoria who is interested in watching some Saloon car racing - we got 2 more race meetings this year.  Next one will be the V8Supercar round at Phillip Island - November 6th - 8th. We will not be on the channel 7 broadcast. And the final round for the year will be the Shannons Nationals at Sandown - November 27th - 29th. This round will be broadcast on Speedweek a week or 2 later.

Hi, I have been racing Saloons at State Level since July last year. Made my National debut in May this year. Only done 1 National round so far - but the next 2 are at National level. And thanks - The XR8 is my baby. Come this Christmas, I will have owned her 12 years. (Damn - I feel old)

I didn't even need to get mine tuned to get more than that. Cam, extractors, exhaust and intake, only cost $1250
