Ok so here's the deal.
Doin a head gasket change on EF falcon and i'm trying to get the chain guide bolt out. It sems as though it's been loctited with space shuttle grade friggin gear and i've rounded the bolt on the end because the 10mm socket cracked and slipped and rounded it.. I just need the damn thing out and then i'm sweet. I'll grab another bolt from the wreckers tomorrow or some s**t. So, does anyone have any idea on how to get the bolt out? Any suggestions welcome. Thnaks in advance.

Heat it up if you have some gas or a single hex socket should do the trick. They do have loctite applied to them from factory.

get the file out and make it a 9 or 8mm socket
or grind a slot in to and use a screw driver and breaker

some of these things are friggen tight...
could try a single hex 3/8 socket as they are a bit smaller than 10mm last one i had to weld a nut to it and use a long breaker bar and socket u could also try vice grips on it

mate try some of the ones that have been suggested, they are all good and will all get you out of the F***ked up situation your in. Personally if you could figure out a way to multiply the force to a screwdriver I would go with the getting the grinder out and making the nut a screw.
welding might be a bit tricky... filing it down to a different size and then making sure you use only a single hex socket should have you back lappin in no time. |

Drill the top of it and after the gear is off you can undo it with vise grips. Protect the oil galleries from the drillings though.

i had the same problem, tried all the methods above and none worked. Got it off no problems when i picked up a decent pair of vice grips and attached it really tight. Came off with no struggle.

+1 for welding a nut to it. the heat and a better surface to grab on work wonders.

I've welded a ring spanner to one before, there was no way it was slipping after that...

grab yourself a steel bar place one end on the head of the bolt and then give the other end a good hit with a hammer, this should loosen the locktite, then use a large pair of vicegrips adjusted tightly. try this it has worked for me in the past...
