using an au steel head gasket on an ED, do u use sealant as well or does it go on dry, thanks

head gasket itself goes on dry (no sealent) but its critical that the mating surfaces are clean and that there are no high spots from bits of the old gasket. you can how ever use a little silicone gasket maker on the timing cover gaskets and "c" seal

Ford recommend that you use hylomar spray on the au head gasket,so do alot of people on here.
I used the hylomar spray when i fitted mine. Its about 10 bucks a can roughly, i think the brand i got was ACL. Better to be safe than sorry.

no real need for any sealer. how ever, ACL hylomar or VHT copper gasket spray will not hurt
