Well Mr 4.9 Futura, why would they say don’t do the port and polish to the heads if it costs a few bob more when the heads are off anyway. They are ridiculous, that’s the perfect time to get them done, avoid paying the labour.

WTF do i know about 6 cylinder falcons? Very little.

Not only am i familiar with stockstandard's work but he has demonstrated here and now why you dont bother porting a head if its going to be used with standard XR gear. I dont need to expain anything. The proof is right there. If i can interperet that graph then a 10 year old should be able to understand the concept.

By the Way the SS will flog everyone on here so no good to awaken the dragon. I wanna fight fair, e-series vs e-series.

not a better driver than everyone, only some of the people posting ridiculous inflamatory comments.

The LS1 does not burn any oil at all. Its just a powerhouse. In saying that neither does the ford. But lets me honest, its because I maintain them properly, half of you blokes, try and save a few bob and do some bodgy repairs. I saw Steady Eds car, it looked lowered, but it made a huge clunking sound, I checked it out for him, he had cut the springs and didnt even bother to take out the cut portion of the spring, just left it there clugging around. Bodgy.

on the topic, don't port.. I think even DT heads vs DA's have smaller ports.

ANYWAYS.....apart from all this "im the better driver, no i am" and " ports & polish vs not"

The bottom line is....some recommend doing it, some dont....i think the guy who's getting his head done just wanted advice on what people thought about it. Hence the topic being " Second Opinion".

and also, XRFAN101, let me know about that rack, as $550 is a bit rich, even if it is supplied and fitted.

Everyone should try to remember what this forums is for....to help people, not bag them....ocassionally there is a d***head that won't agree with what you said.....but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Now that I have played the responsible one, im going to get s**t drunk and drive my paddock bomb around for an hour or so. :)

What this whole argument comes down to is money. If you are a millionaire and a horsepower god like EB_V8 then you would spend the money. If you were a simpleton and poor (according to EB_V8 everyone here is) and just wanna get the car goin then spend what you gotta spend! Simple!

Okay cheers for the discussion guys definately and interesting read. Im heading towards not working the head. The rack was supply and fit yes. And i went to 3-4 different places and they all said the same. Round $550-$600.

Once i fix up these head leaks and sort a couple of other things out, im considering getting more performance work done on the car any way.

But any way thanks for the answers guys, much appreciated! :D
