I know that the previous owner of my ZD was running 14.9's all day at Castlereagh (yes a long time ago) when he heard a noise as he was about to take off, he thought stuff it and went, pulling a 14.6! when he got back to the pits he realised he had thrown the A/C belt. He went home and removed all the A/C gear from the car!

the early v6 commodores had a part number for a belt that bypassed the air con, so I thought ford would do the same? Or maybe the holdens had a cheaper option without the air con? And ford didnt

i tried to hunt down one of theses a few years back and thay where rare then, seemed at time the guys doing saloon cars where snapping em up, anyways you can't run a smaller belt cos it needs the pully to keep the belt off the tentioner, they are a XH ute part and the belt thay run is a smaller belt with or without ac part number 6PK2405 compaired to EF 6PK2370,
the 6 is number of ribs the PK is belt type and the 2405 is belt lenth in mm i have a bosch belt pdf if anyone wants to match make something up |

Hi,
I think air con and air bag were standard from the EF onward. An idler would be the best alternative to the compressor. Even in a cold climate the air-con is worth having to dry the air and avoid fogging. Hot dry air will clear all the windows. 96ELGLi

My aircon barely works and it's still enough to dry the windows, very handy indeed.

Sorry for the grave dig but I thought I'd bump this thread incase anyone was interested.
I have an EF I6 in an old FJ40 Landcruiser. When I installed the motor I had to delete the compressor as it hit the chassis rail. I was in a hurry to get the thing going so I removed the falcon auto tensioner and made a simple manual tensioner for the belt and it worked ok for a while. Over time this tensioner has come slightly out of alignment and during more spirited driving will tend to either throw or shred the belt. This had become a more common occurrence since I turbo charged it... I finally decided to sort it out and referred to this thread about the genuine idler that mounts in place of the compressor. I suspected this wouldn't work for me as it would likely put the pulley in the same place the compressor was and also hit the chassis rail. I got one in and found out I was right. After paying $200 for it I decided to send it back for credit rather than modify it. So I decided to make my own and position the pully an inch or so higher so as to clear the chassis. It now it runs the original EF auto tensioner and standard length belt. Pics below for your interest. Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Hope this helps someone. What thickness plate did you use? Do you have some schematics/plans with measurements etc? What pulley did you use? Is it just the ribbed one off the tensioner?

It's all 4mm plate. Should be plenty strong with the brace. The lower mount spacers are 15mm and the top mount spacer is just another piece of 4mm welded on. These spacers are needed to clear a casting in the block. I don't have any measurements or a schematic as I just copied the genuine idler using an angle finder. I just spaced the pulley up further to suit my application. Yes that ribbed pulley is the same as the one in the tensioner. I pilfered the boss it sits on out of an old manual tensioner. It's not hard to remove if someone needs measurements.... |

Is the AU air con delete bracket the same as BA BF FG or different bolt pattern?
If not, what is the part number for BA BF FG? Cheers |

I have au block ED intake Xh tensioner Xh belt and air con delete bracket but no clearance on rubber air intake pipe. what is the issue as this is all standard except the au block its mounted the same as the pic on page 1 of this thread
