Does anyone have a photo of a serpentine belt setup without air-con? EF-EL. I'm guessing there is an idler pully that goes in place of the compressor, but wouldn't mind seeing what one looks like, and how it bolts on etc.

Cheers

Ditto, wanna see this too.

I called JMM and amongst other questions asked this also.
There's a bracket with an idler on it, from memory he said that it was a rarely selected option for no aircon from factory an you can find them in the hens teeth/rocking horse poop department, and he has one himself he's gonna keep. But ford still sell them.
I didn't chase it any further at the time.

But I would like to see a photo...

Theyre most common on taxi's I think. Another option is to gut the AC compressor so its only there for the pulley.

There is 2 belts listed for a EF 6. So I would say shorter...

That's good to know thanks Matt.

You haven't got a spare EF engine loom by any chance do you?

I'm going to need one of those sometime down the track I believe. Any idea the added gain from having the compressor removed? Is there any down fall to taking it off either?

Added gains are probably minimal, it will be easier for the motor to spin a idler than the full compressor though. Maybe a couple of killer wasps.

I've read somwhere that a guy got a little quicker off his strip time from running no belts at all including alternator.

I'd say the best part of this conversion would be all the regained access with out the compressor there and the extra 5-10 kilos off the from weight lol.

Disadvantage? No aircon, but that's why Henry made the car with 2x50 cooling...2 windows down at 50 kmh!
